Today was Lily's First Holy Communion. To say we have planned for this day for years would not be an exaggeration! We got her dress about 3 years ago. We were out one day, and she saw a dress she loved, and she begged me for it. I always thought she would wear Anna's dress, but I told her that if she really wanted THAT dress, I would get it, but she had to wear it. She said yes, and she did!!
I did the General Intercessions, which I have to say is the first time I have ever done them. I was a little nervous about knowing when to go up, and sure enough, they skipped the Profession of Faith that was my cue to go up...so I was sitting there for a few second before the guy in front of me told me to go. I managed okay.
After the Communion, Lily went up and did a reading that she and I practiced for weeks--she looked gorgeous!

Afterwards, we went to Iron Hill Brewery in Chestnut Hill, which is our new go-to celebration place.
I took a long drive home, but when we got home, it sort of seemed a little un-finished. Kind of like Christmas morning when you wake up and it all seems done. Here she was in her dress, all gorgeous, but the party for her isn't until July (lots of long reasons!). Anyway, she and I went for a walk, and talked about how great the day had been, and I think she was happy. We will be having her party in July....Jack is getting home tonight, and we didn't want to rush it before he leaves for Rome next Sunday. Congratulations Lily!!
