Matthew's Confirmation--December 6th, 2014

Our son, Matthew, was confirmed yesterday at Immaculate Conception Church in Jenkintown.   It was lovely.  It was officiated by Bishop Martino, who in terms of Bishops, seemed very nice.

I can remember the nuns scaring the bajeezus out of us about the bishop who confirmed me..how he would ask us questions, and be mad at us if we didn't know the answers.    As I recall, Bishop Lohmuller,  confirmed me in 1970, asked one really simple question...and worried 150 second graders for no reason (that was just the number of kids in three classes at St. David's Catholic School...there must have been kids from CCD, also).

I just looked up Bishop Martin Lohmuller.  He is 95, and still alive, and he became a Bishop on 4/2/70, which means he was a bishop for a month before he confirmed me.

Anna was Matthew's sponsor, and had to be there a little early.   It was rainy, and cold, and miserable...which I guess is only better than snow, which is what it did constantly last winter.   Anyway, this is Matthew walking into the church:

The ceremony was lovely--I don't remember really enjoying my other children's Confirmations...but this one was nice.   Maybe because it is such a festive time of year.    When it came time for Matthew to pick a Confirmation name, he threw this one out, which is a name Jack used to call Timmy, but it seemed like a good name:

These are some pictures afterwards in the Church hall--Matthew has been friends with his friend, Matt, since they were three.

I think Matthew was looking at Chris taking his picture..we were both flashing at the same time:

                                                           So handsome!

For a late lunch, we went to Iron Hill Brewery in Chestnut Hill.    It was a really nice place, although I think every place is really nice during the Christmas season--it was all lit up with white lights.

Iron Hill Brewery is my new favorite restaurant--there are tons of choices for all of us...Matthew and Chris ate seafood, Anna and I had salads, and Timmy and Lily ate kids' meals....everyone loved their meals, and, if it hadn't been raining so hard, we would have walked along Germantown Avenue to look at the Christmas lights, but it worked out great anyway!!
